Trujillo has a lot of ruins to visit.
We went to see some of the more recent excavations--
the Huacas de la Luna and del Sol.
This is from the Moche civilization that was before the Incas.
The mound of dirt that they are looking at is the Huaca del Sol
(temple of the Sun) that is just now starting to be excavated
Amazing to think that these walls are over 1500 years old.
They used minerals to make these colors and look
how well they have held up....really amazing when you think about it.
